“We had a very clear idea about what we wanted for our retirement and were happy to search for it until we found exactly what we wanted.

We first heard about Sapphire about two years ago when we were passing through Hervey Bay on our annual holiday, when the building was mid way through construction. 

We really liked the sound of what the development had to offer, and coming from Sydney, we were very impressed with the quiet, coastal country charm of Hervey Bay and the friendly reception from the locals.

We weren’t in a hurry to make a move so we waited until Sapphire was finished and we could see the final product before we made our final decision – we only needed to see Sapphire once and we were sold!

The fact that Sapphire is an RSL Care development also played a pivotal role in the decision making; we felt they are a name we can trust.

Now we are here, we absolutely love it!  We have settled in so easily, the help from the Sapphire team as well as the other residents being so friendly has made this such an easy and enjoyable experience.

Living at Sapphire is like being in a five star resort permanently; the only difference is that the maid doesn’t come and make the bed each morning. Watching the dolphins at play while we enjoy our breakfast from our balcony in the middle of a Queensland “winter” has certainly been a highlight!

We have felt at home at Sapphire since the day we arrived and we are looking forward to discovering the adventures the area has to offer.  We feel like we are Queenslanders already!”

“We love everything about living at Sapphire, we think it’s fantastic! The thought that has gone into the design of the building, the features of the apartments specific to the needs of older people, the amenities, the view, the proximity to the shops, the Hervey Bay area, the other residents all being at a similar stage in life, the staff, the lifestyle – everything is just fabulous!

Something that we also love about Sapphire is that the environment was really taken into consideration in the design, so it’s a pretty green building – the natural breezeways, the aspect of the building is optimal for keeping cool in summer and warm in winter and solar panels provide power for the communal areas.

We practically haven’t used our car since we moved here – there is no need.  We have everything we could want within walking distance; coffee shops, the RSL Club, restaurants, the shopping centre, the beach, doctors and the library. It is just so convenient.

The first morning after we moved into our apartment at Sapphire, we were enjoying our breakfast on our balcony over looking the Bay and a pod of dolphins started playing right in front of us.  Since then we have been lucky enough to see whales and much bird life from our balcony – it is just a magical spot.

It’s been really enjoyable meeting the other residents and making new friends, especially being new to the area.  We’ve found everyone very friendly and have enjoyed participating in the social activities our social committee organise.

As we said – we love everything about living at Sapphire and would encourage anyone we know to take the plunge and experience Sapphire themselves.
