Easing into retirement

The Sapphire retirement lifestyle is not only about the hard amenities such as the pool, location and beautiful surrounds; though the best of this is found at Sapphire. It is also about discovering a comfortable environment where you feel happy to enjoy your time how you feel it is best spent.

When is the right time to move into a retirement village?

The decision about when the right time to move into a retirement village is a very personal decision and differs greatly for everyone. Residents generally move into a retirement village when they have retired and are planning their future to ensure they make the most of this fun time. Many people feel the family home is too large and the upkeep is too much which makes downsizing to a retirement village a great option. Sapphire was designed to meet residents' accommodation, social and recreational needs.

Can I bring my pet to Sapphire?

As a general rule, RSL Care supports a no pets policy. This is the case at the Sapphire apartment complex.

Are we able to have guests stay with us?

Yes, of course! This is your home and friends and family are very welcome to stay with you in apartment for a time, and may also use the communal facilities while in your company. Naturally all guests must abide by the village rules.

What happens when I travel?

A benefit of living in a retirement village is having peace of mind while travelling that your home is secure and being looked after. We request that if you plan to be away for a period of time, that you inform the Sapphire Apartments Retirement Living Coordinator so that your apartment can be checked on and that no one worries about your whereabouts.

What aged care service does RSL Care provide at Sapphire?

RSL Care supports the needs of older Australians through the provision of quality health, care services and accommodation options including Retirement Living, Residential Aged Care and RSL HomeCare. Residential aged care is not provided at Sapphire; however RSL Care operates Baycrest Retirement Community at Pialba in Hervey Bay where residential care is available.

Do I have to participate in village activities?

No. Your retirement is for you to enjoy the things you love and you are free to participate in any activity you like. Activities and events are organised by the resident social committee as a great way for you to meet your neighbours, but aren’t compulsory so you can be as active or as social as you like.

As a resident in an RSL Care Retirement Community, am I automatically entitled to a bed in an RSL Care residential aged care facility if my needs change?

RSL Care makes every effort to help existing residents’ access higher levels of care. All residential care places are subject to availability and Government assessment. The closest RSL Care Aged Care facility to Sapphire is Baycrest, also in Hervey Bay.

Am I contracted to live in a RSL Care Retirement Village for a certain amount of time?

No, you can terminate your Residence Agreement at any time.
