Hervey Bay from the air.
Whale Watching
Hervey Bay is the place to go to see the magnificent humpback whales come out to play. There is a large range of whale watching tours available from the dawn tour, half day, three quarter day and full day tours. It's great for a fun, action filled day out on the clear waters of the Bay.
Urangan Markets
Every Friday evening from 4pm, the craft and fresh produce markets are held at the Urangan Marina.
Fishing
One of the great attractions of Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast is its diversity of fishing opportunities. Beach and rock fishing on Fraser Island, deep sea or continental shelf fishing, fish the estuaries and creeks on the inside of the Island or any of the many creeks and rivers, on the mainland side of the Great Sandy Strait, fish the strait itself, ply the deep and shallow reefs and ledges in the bay, shore fish or fish from the pier of jetties.
Tours of Fraser Island
Fraser Island is a unique part of the Fraser Coast region, and its unusual formation of sand and rainforest make it a special source of adventure for visitors to explore. Although well known among fisherman and 4WD enthusiasts, it is the history and Aboriginal heritage that gives Fraser Island its individual character, expressed through wonderful coloured sand cliffs, unique fresh water lakes and diverse flora and wildlife.
Spanning 124 kilometres and covering an area of 163,000 hectares Fraser Island has developed over a period of 800,000 thousand years, and it's still being perfected, making Fraser Island one of the most rare and mysterious features of the Queensland coastline.
Cycling and walking
The Esplanade provides a broad and level nature strip with a bike path which runs the entire stretch of Sandy Beach from the Urangan Pier to the last of the grand old beach houses at Point Vernon and provides the perfect track for cycling and walking.
Swimming
Hervey Bay features nine swimming beaches, safe for the whole family to enjoy a dip in the subtropical waters.
